The second season of the new hit series \u201cHouse of David<\/a>\u201d will be released globally on Prime Video on March 27.<\/p>\n

The new season picks up where the last one left off \u2014 the battle against the Philistines after David kills Goliath. After this triumph, viewers see David rise from shepherd boy to commander in King Saul\u2019s army.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s epic and it\u2019s thrilling and it\u2019s violent and adventurous and filled with romance and politics and everything you can imagine,\u201d Michael Iskander, the actor who portrays David, told EWTN News in an interview.<\/p>\n

Producer, writer, and director of the series Jon Gunn told EWTN News that the creators of the show felt \u201ca great responsibility\u201d to deliver another great season of the show after the overwhelming response Season 1 received with over 50 million people watching the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe beautiful thing is Season 1 is really just the beginning \u2014 David slaying Goliath; no one thinks about what happens the moments after that. He\u2019s on a battlefield with 250,000 to 300,000 people crashing into each other and he\u2019s not a warrior,\u201d he said. \u201cWe talk a lot about the show being about the cost of destiny. And so he slays the giant, he\u2019s now a hero, but that\u2019s just really the beginning of his journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

A major theme seen in the second season is the friendship between David and Jonathan \u2014 King Saul\u2019s eldest son.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis brother bond that he makes with Jonathan, which is this wonderful friendship \u2014 and such a complicated one because Jonathan knows he\u2019s teaching and training the very man who\u2019s going to replace him \u2014 and yet, does it because he believes it\u2019s God\u2019s will. It\u2019s a beautiful friendship and a beautiful arc for Jonathan,\u201d Gunn shared.<\/p>\n

Iskander called the relationship between David and Jonathan \u201cone of the few and greatest examples of friendships in the Bible.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor also highlighted the importance of David\u2019s love for King Saul.<\/p>\n

\u201cDavid, regardless of who Saul had become, never let go of that love for Saul,\u201d Iskander said. \u201cAnd, obviously, remembering that God chose Saul just like he chose him so because of that he could never raise his hand against the king.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cIt\u2019s a good reminder for us today [because] God looks at all of us in the same way. He loves us all and wants us all to be with him. And so as Christians we\u2019re called to love our enemies\u2026 In the same way that David loved Saul, we\u2019re called to love each other today.\u201d<\/p>\n
