At the moment of Baptism, a person is ‘born’ as a Christian. He or she immediately receives the Holy Spirit. Before Confirmation, people who were baptised as children can renew the promises that their parents made on their behalf at Baptism.
A person who is baptised as an adult is usually confirmed immediately after Baptism. The Sacrament of Confirmation confirms and ratifies the presence of the Holy Spirit.
